Walls
Walls,
keep out those who just want the sweetness, the beauty
keep out the thieves who steal without paying the price
keep out those who strip and pluck, who separate meat from bone
and throw away it all away when done
keep out those who want only the facade, the fantasy
keep out those who would only dance, but not walk with me in the rain
Walls,
stand proud,
stand high
high enough
that only those who eat
the bitter with the sweet
can climb over to the other side
and savor the fullness of flavor
