Crimes Against the Heart

Dear Heart,

Heart, I'm sorry. Forgive me for doubting you for so long. You tried to talk to me but I wouldn't listen. I shut you out and numbed my senses, and hid behind "ok". Heart, I blamed you and believed the truth to be a lie, myself to be the perpetrator. Heart, I fought a civil war against you. And fought you like you were my mortal enemy. I battled you as if it was my life's mission to have you obliterated. Heart, I ignored your cries, your unshed tears. Just because they never fell, doesn't mean they weren't real. Heart, I failed to trust you. Instead I looked everywhere else. But you, Heart, knew all along. You knew.
These are my crimes against you. My crimes against you are these. Forgive me, Heart.

Sincerely.
Your Soul
